Dataclash - Brought to you by zolf
Dataclash was started back in December 2023, with the first edition being more than
successful as well as mysterious, beautiful and quite possibly one of the best two nights
i ever had in my life. Just sitting in my room broadcasting everyone’s art,
audio and vision to the world on YouTube.
So - what is it exactly? Dataclash stands for freedom of expression.
There are no limits really, the only one limit being that all sets must be comprised of audio
and visual elements (the time restriction this time around for Dataclash 2 are that online sets
must be 30 mins or less)
All sets are combined together for one large online show - think of it as a [public access tv] style
livestream broadcast, with bumps and adverts between each set. Something that could be
described as a URLshow perhaps….
URLshow’s and audio/visual type sets, live streaming and such have been an integral part of
being zolf and an integral part of my life in general. In fact, I’ve been doing things like that since
i was 16/17. My first ever encounter with something similar to Dataclash was Party Back At Yours - a
Twitch music festival where artists would send everyone on a musical and visual journey through the
website through a raid train (the act of taking everyone viewing your livestream to another one after your
stream is over). This was hosted by Gusbo (LEGEND from Glasgow, was a producer and DJ), and I owe a lot to him
for my two appearances for his PBAY festival events on Twitch (unfortunately I think he is now
inactive, you can find his music on Bandcamp and Soundcloud). These occurred in 2022 and 2023.
The same year of 2022, I’d do yet another A/V DJ mix / live hardware set broadcast previewing tracks from
my then upcoming EP - Startup (we don’t talk about this lol, it is available online if you look).
By this time in my journey as zolf, I was starting to find my flow and more importantly, my style
and sound....
In 2022, I’d do my first ever online radio web broadcast through SENCOV.ONLINE - a short lived web
radio project - which also featured collaborations from Sooakxa, who joins us for the IRL afterparty this
year alongside Eye Suriyanon and was featured in the very first Dataclash online event.
Sencov hosted these radio broadcasts on their website purely through the internet - my first ever introduction
to online broadcasting (#BUTT #BroadcastUsingThisTool)
After this, I’d start my URLshow journey, through the glorious Hexen Show - hosted by Amber
aka GLITCHSISTER. This Twitch channel and project has very much helped solidify the foundation for what
Dataclash was to become, as I take massive inspiration from it alongside other URLshows like it -
including Headless Blood Idol hosted by Magenta Skull, another Dataclash contributor from the first show!
Myself and Amber would try to work on bringing Dataclash back for the the second edition for the longest
time, many things would get in the way - until now. HexenShow is awesome, and has been quiet for some time now,
but hopefully will return with programming in the new year.
I’m so happy to be hosting the second show FINALLY, and hosting the afterparty at Stereo feels
just right as the space provides a lot for club production which I’ve always admired… (the afterparty club
night will also be broadcasted LIVE, featuring visual works on stream and audio from the artists performing as
it unfolds - Dataclash 2 is covering the entire day and night and then morning!)
I’m still working on confirming exact timings for the online broadcasted YouTube URLshow segment, featuring artists
from around the world as well as local to Glasgow + Scotland, but until then, please know that Dataclash is more than
a passion project for me - realistically it’s my life and a continuation of what I’ve been doing for five whole years now.
I live and breathe this stuff, and I hope you can see and realise that.

I want to make this as special as possible, making a club night that bit extra is absolutely one of my goals, hopefully
the final product will be everything I set out to achieve and more - and this isonly the second occasion!
